Pastor Notes…

Hi all. Wow! More rain! And it looks like we are getting closer to sweater weather. But you never know with Utah… Let’s see what is happening at church:

Song – We are singing a song we haven’t had sung in a while this Sunday, Jesus Is a Rock in a Weary Land. If you don’t remember it, take a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxwSI7BZeV0&list=RDRxwSI7BZeV0&start_radio=1

Blessings – You may have heard on Sunday that Mickey’s husband, Lynn, had been taken to the hospital. Lucky he was able to be released on Monday with oxygen and is recovering at home. I’m sure he would appreciate your prayers as those two are trying to get to Hawaii later this month.

Blessings – If you weren’t at church on Sunday, Bonnie made it in on one crutch! She still has several weeks of healing ahead of her, but she is doing much better.

Prayers – Laura had her knee surgery today and it was successful! She is home recovering and she would appreciate your prayers for continued healing.

Operation Christmas Child – This week, we are asked to bring in clothing or accessories – ideas are: socks, sunglasses, hair clips, etc. Let’s get plenty to fill up those boxes!

GriefShare – Diane and I are meeting on Thursday and will soon have the schedule out for our next GriefShare classes/support group. I believe they will start in November. If you know someone with questions, please have them call me at 801-577-4100. Thanks!

– Taco Tuesdays – These are still happening on Tuesdays at 5:30 pm at ‘Bout Time on Main Street!

– Dry Bar Comedy – Dry Bar Comedy is coming back to Utah – Oct. 17th at a church in Grantsville – $15 a piece – for more info – https://store.drybarcomedy.com/products/fri-oct-17th-7pm-seth-tippetts?variant=46848202801387

– Food Pantry – The Food Pantry is looking for egg cartons and empty plastic grocery bags. If you have any, you can drop them off at the Food Pantry on Main Street. Thanks!

Upcoming important dates!

 – Oct. 26 (Sun) – Consecration Sunday/Reformation Sunday  – we will turn in our pledge cards, have a yummy lunch, and it is also Reformation Sunday, so you can wear Red!

– Oct. 29 (Wed) – Wed Warm Up at Methodist church – we will be providing a meal for those less fortunate who meet at the Methodist church (78 E. Utah Ave). Dinner starts at 5 pm, so food needs to be there by 4:40 pm. Thanks!

– Nov. 30 (Sun) – This will be the 1st Sunday in Advent!

– Dec. 14 (Sun) – Annual Congregation Meeting after service!

– Bible Studies

– 9 am on Sunday at church – 2nd Samuel right now and then 1st and 2nd Kings after that

– 7 pm on Tuesday at Rick and Bonnie’s home – working on next offering, but it will be something new next week

 – 11 am on Monday at Harris Community in the gym – Pr. Rick teaches about the weekly assigned scriptures

Looking further ahead, we may be asked to help out with the Christmas celebration again at Harris Community Village this year. It is being held on Dec. 5th. Unfortunately, I am not available that afternoon/evening, but I am hoping some of you may be interested in that outreach. Please be thinking about this. Thanks!

I think that’s everything I was supposed to add. This Sunday, we will be hearing about the persistent widow (Luke 18: 1-8). Is this parable really about what Luke frames it as? I hope to see you on Sunday, and we’ll find out.

Blessings,

Pastor Traci
